Manappadom
Removed from the main thoroughfare is another beautiful gramam. Though the name is spelled variously as Manapadam, Manappadam etc I checked to find that Manappadom was correct.
I am happy to hear that the original migration happened from Vayalur. It is good to know that folks here still remember their origin. Subramanya Swamy blessed the Saint Poet Arunagiri Nathar at Vayalur and initiated him to compose Thiruppugazh. Arunagirindthar wrote 18 verses (910-927) on Vayalur. Thirumuruga Sri Kripananda Variyar always used to start his discourses with a prayer to "Vayalur Emperuman".
The village has just 6 Brahmin families and however they with the locals conduct the rituals in the temple regularly.
I was happy to hear that the gramam has built a corpus to generate revenue for the conduct of the annual celebrations. Most agraharams should consciously build a corpus so that it will generate funds for the future.
I wish to see agraharams building schools, helping startup and build techpreneurs and entrepreneurs, encouraging more in the agraharams or folks with roots to become bureaucrats, judges and engage in politics. For that is the only way to speak up for the community in this polarized world.
