I wonder about the etymology of Pallanchathanur.
I looked up to find this - "The name "Pallanchathanur" itself is derived from the village's structure. The term "Thara" refers to a specific area or settlement within a larger village, often associated with a particular caste or occupation. In the case of Pallanchathanur, the different Tharas (Agraharam, Nair, Achaari, Chetty) indicate the diverse occupational groups that historically resided there."
Many in Kalpathy are affiliated to Pallanchathanur. The village is home to several temples and shrines. Pallanchathanur Bhagavathy Temple, Vadakkunnathan Kshethram, Gopalakrishna Swamy Temple, Kolakkurissi Appan Temple are a few to name.
The fertile belt has many canals crisscrossing the lush fields and are fed by the branches of the Malamupuzha canal. If you trace the origin of the feeder to the temple pond you will find its source to the canal.
Though a small community, it has managed to retain its vibrant self by rejuvenating its timeless rituals.
Radhe Krishna!
