Parali
I have known Parali - the place - where malabar tiles were made and as a station stop between Palghat and Ottapalam. I wonder if the Parli Tile Factory which was established in 1928 continues to survive.
Parali is uniquely positioned at the confluence of the Kalpathy and Kannadi rivers, which merge to form the Bharathapuzha River, Kerala's second-longest river. This confluence has historically been vital for inland navigation and trade, facilitating the transport of goods to the Ponnani Port and bringing Western commodities to Palakkad. A notable landmark is the old British-era bridge constructed in 1852 during the tenure of A.B. Robinson, the then Collector of Malabar. This bridge, reminiscent of the Westminster Bridge in London, stands as a testament to colonial engineering
Nice to know the exact place of origin of the forefathers of the agraharam - Alangudi and Kaliakudi. Both in the cauvery delta region and only about an hour apart.
Happy to see another village that is removed from throughfare and hence a quite settlement.
Radhe Krishna!
Warm regards,
